Merritt Teacher Flags WiFi Worries
Last Updated: Wednesday, March 6th, 2013 | 4:11pm PST Story by: Tara Gostelow

A Merritt high school teacher is trying to have wifi limited in classrooms. Yvonne Lord wants students and teachers to have the choice to work in areas where there is no wireless internet access. She believes more research needs to be done before it's safe, especially for young people.

"I'm not willing to get hysterical about it, but I think what's happening is the proliferation of WiFi is turning this entire generation into a huge experiment, because we really do not know what the long-term effects are."

Lord will be presenting her concerns at the next B.C. teachers federation conference later this month. She hopes the B.C.T.F. will adopt several resolutions to limit wireless modems and provide support for teachers who suffer from wifi sensitivity.
